Physics, UTF & UC

Nuclear or particle physics was an area I always shunned. I could
not understand it, and it seemed like a game, in which the rules
were arbitrary. And now, that is just the fascinating thing about
it: namely, that, since the rules are arbitrary, that means that
they were set up or defined arbitrarily, just as were the
cosmological constants.

Now, why? It was either an accident, a very lucky one, for us, or
else it was deliberate and intentional (either very loving or
very malicious). Because of that, we are here. Some would hold
that the universe, the supra-universe, or the set of all possible
universes, produced all possible combinations of rules and
constants, and only those whichthem. Scientists have infinite
respect for the humble, for life itself. It is the greatest mystery,
the more they probe.

I do believe I found a great chunk of what they are looking for.
I certainly believe others will also discover it. I don"t mind if
they get the credit. I just care that it won"t be misused. And I
also believe that God would not give it to those people who were
not ready for it. For, the creation and operation of the universe
is intimately connected with the very living and present God,
whom you can meet and know, and who is all-powerful but with-
holds Himself in order that we can fulfill our responsibility and
grow into true, mature adults... which by the way we (mankind)
are (underscored) in fact doing!

You cannot understand the universe without understanding the
spiritual dimensions of reality, called the Sung-Sang realm, and
you cannot understand it without understanding the origin, God.
So, physicists, and even politicians, are now at that point,
where, like it or not, they have to invoke God in order to solve
their equations. So here is the Unified Field Theory, and Divine
Principle, and Unification Thought, all of which are ready and
waiting for that purpose.

Your first question, about my discussions with "HF". "HF" means
"Heavenly Father" or God. Now, to everyone, publicly and
privately, rather than attributing this to "God", I will say it
is my original mind, or a reflective, non-intellectual
subconscious, which somehow natively or intuitively knows what
is right. Perhaps it is what Plato was referring to when he
talked about "recollection". I believe that it is not just in
one"s own mind, but it is connected to the cosmic consciousness,
that is, the root, origin, or underlying fabric or mind of the
universe. Let us call it "God", or "HF", as I have done.

It is a literal discussion. I ask a question, and wait to see
answer pops into my mind. I place that channel available within
myself, and try to keep it uncluttered and clear, so that I don"t
deal with junk or nonsense. In other words, because I take it
seriously, so does God, so He answers me in seriousness and
good faith. It is a question of relationship. I believe God can
speak to you in any way you let him. Through nature, through
symbolic things like the flight of a butterfly or the growth of a
cloud, through your body, like your stomach or heart, through a
machine like your car (I have seen the car trying to tell me
something by the way it responded to my steering, or when it
unexpectedly refused to start).... The conscience or intuition is
the most important channel by which to reach God. If you keep
your conscience clear, and don"t try to squelch it, but obey it,
you will clearly know what is right and wrong, what is true and
false. And the principle of conscience is universally upheld --
in the court of law, in the Unitarian Church, and by any culture
or system of government. Conscience can unite us, whereas
religion and philosophy like politics divides us.

I never intended to study quantum physics, but, yes, I am. But I
am studying more by prayer than by poring through books and
lengthy mathematical formulas.

I think something is more basic even than mathematics, "the
queen of the sciences". It is said even that theology or
philosophy is the first science. I quite agree. Because, before
the mathematical equation is applied, there is a context or
domain in which it is to be applied. What domain? That is one
question of Unified Field Theory. Unified Field Theory deals
not only with force fields, but with domains of the universe. So,
the first question is, from what viewpoint are you looking at the
universe, or what is the purpose for your doing this thing, or
asking this question?

Actually, yes, I am studying the work of quantum physicists. But
one thing you notice, is that the theory has hardly developed
since the 1920s. Same with Relativity. Einstein completed his
significant work by 1915. Why is that? Since that time there has
been so much scientific work, working out the concrete reality
or rather evanescent reality of fundamental particles, of which
a dizzying array of over 200 now exist, all with different
charges, masses, spins, color, charm, strangeness, half-life,
etc. Just like the number of elements (about 150 or more), there
is a huge number of basic particles. What is that? It all points
to something more basic. Now they have pretty well found out
about quarks, of which three basic kinds make up all hadrons
(neutrons and protons). But there is theorized to be something
even more fundamental, subquarks or pre-quarks. When you get to
that level, you find out that you are looking at something which
sometimes energy and sometimes matter -- it is like a ghost, or
nothing at all. And that is what all matter and energy is made up
of. So what does it come down to? The foundation of all matter
and energy is mathematical law or principle. The whole world is
different levels of law and principle acting upon packets of some-
thing which itself is fundamentally a mathematical or theoretical
or even imaginary existence.

Electrons and photons seem to behave as half-way imaginary or
invisible, and halfway material. They can disappear and reappear,
even elsewhere, without intervening communication. They seem to
point out that fundamental nature of existence -- it comes into
mind, the mind of someone, and then appears in substance.
Actually that is quite like our experiential reality. Where does
life come from? From love. What is love? An emotion, and some
accompanying action. But the root of everything is actually
invisible laws, principles, and emotion. I say it this way:
"Heart is the foundation of existence." Heart is a kind of
emotion. It is very personal, not at all impersonal or cold or
detached. It is, on the other hand, very involved with you and me
and our feelings and doings. In other words, the universe cares
about us. Heart is the foundation of the universe.

When you study quantum physics and the theory of relativity,
you realize they have not developed so much in the last fifty
years; nor have they been unified. So that is one task of the
Unified Field Theory. Although they appear to contradict each
other, when you realize the underlying nature of reality, they
don"t contradict at all, but complement each other. They are in
a balanced relationship. Usually the reason for such a situation
is that there is an underlying reality or unifying principle, by
which both viewpoints make sense, although, seen from either one
of the viewpoints, the other seems absurd. In other words, from
the viewpoint of a purely physical world, it is impossible to
unite or explain all the observed phenomena, but, if you include
a larger, multidimensional reality, including the complex reality
of the imaginary plane, then it becomes clear and understandable.
That is what I have been putting together.

Nobody created the Unified Field Theory as a theory, and in fact
nobody discovered it either, as such. It is what Einstein was
looking for when he died in 1955. It is like the Holy Grail of
physics. I have found out that the Unified Field Theory is much
larger and comprehensive than those who were searching for it
thought.

One thing: "Unified Field Theory" itself is like a pun, a happy
pun. Because "field" refers to fundamental force fields: gravity,
electromagnetism, and strong and weak nuclear forces. It is
these that they have been unsuccessfully trying to unite. "Field"
also refers to fields of science: particle physics, astronomy,
geology, chemistry, biology, psychology, sociology, culture, and
others. Each one of them talks about a domain. They are all
science -- why should they conflict? They are talking about
different levels of organization or principle or reality. So,
Unified Field Theory talks about how to unify these fields of
endeavor or knowledge.

If you look at the universe as a whole, it obviously supports
life, and here we are, right here, thinking, feeling, and acting.
No one can deny that. That is a very present reality -- a very
amazing one. How can that be? In a sense, it makes most sense to
hypothesize that that is the very purpose or organizing principle
of the universe, the essence of reality. In other words, the
universe was created with a purpose, and our existence is
fulfilling that purpose.

Therefore, if you know the purpose of the universe's creation
from the beginning, that helps in figuring out how it works, and
what will happen. It is a reasonable hypothesis, and it can be
tested. For example, if the universe was created by design, then
there must be things around to support and enrich human life.
So, for example, every plant has some purpose -- some medicinal
value or other function. And then, it must also be possible for
us to easily recognize the benefit of the plant. So there is in
fact a principle in plant medicine that the shape of the plant or
its leaves or nut or root resembles the part of the body that it
can benefit. Like walnuts are good for the brain. That makes
sense! Check and see if things are actually designed that way!
The moon is exactly the same diameter in parallax as the sun. It
also has a face on it, whereas the back side is just random
craters. The oceans fill their basins exactly. The earth is at
such an angle that the seasons are just the right length... So
much more. To say nothing of the strength of hydrogen bonds,
the electrovalence of carbon, and all the other basic things that
make life worth living. What if, for example, ice sank instead of
floated? Then the bottom of the oceans would fill up with ice,
and soon there would be no more Miami Beach.

Why are there so many stars? I thought of two reasons: one, of
course, so that we can go out there and populate the universe.
Another, because, the earth is perhaps the only accessible place
where we can reasonably live, but the vast bulk of the universe
is necessary in order to stretch space-time to the degree that it
is smooth and straight over a wide expanse, and the stars are
just to look at and count times by. Still I am not sure. Of
course I favor the first. Then that means there must be some
reasonable way to get out there, not by spending three
generations to travel there. That means there are some amazing
principles we have not yet discovered! I want to find out what
they are, starting with the assumption that it is possible.

Where did this Unified Field Theory come from? Actually, what is
in a sense surprising, is that, the very thing which the
Christians have been denying so vehemently, is the very thing
which is an application of Unified Field Theory, and a proof of
its veracity. Namely, the "New Age" things like magic,
telekinesis, voodoo, shamanism, the power of prayer, ESP,
worshipping natural objects, and a whole host of pagan things.
Why do Christians so strongly reject them? Because they are
diversions or distractions or substitutions for the One God. Who
created the whole universe and loves us. But, if we put things in
their proper perspective, why should we not ultimately be able to
use for the benefit of humanity and nature, the powers that are
there for us, residing in us, and intrinsic to the universe. If
we think the universe is only material, we deprive ourselves of
that possibility. I can see clearly what communism, as
materialism, did. People don't love things because they don't
believe there is any meaning in doing so. But if you love
inanimate objects, not in an idolatrous way, but in a loving,
parental, benevolent way, then they respond to you -- they shine,
they glow. Even physically, that is obvious. When you wax your
car, for example. And, have you ever heard the sink sing a sweet
song to you when you finished scrubbing it? Our conscience is
sensitive to such things, our original human nature, in tune with
the heart of the universe. Every star sings a different tune....

So they found life on Mars. I am glad. Actually I also wondered
if actually life might be found on other planets. Of course it
raises an awesome question. Couldn't more highly developed life
then appear in a suitable environment? Then there must be life on
planets on other stars. Then would it be compatible with ours?
Would there be DNA? Would such DNA have the same codes?
If not, we could certainly not associate conveniently. We might
still communicate by radio, or by voice, or even by telepathy....

That deeply affects our philosophy. What I presently believe,
which is consistent with my philosophy of a universe designed
for humans to thrive and multiply in, is that, if there is life
elsewhere, it must be compatible with ours, and able to harmonize
or be somehow subordinated to ours, or supportive of our own
"manifest destiny" to populate the universe.

If not.... then we have to think deeply and ethically about what
to do. That profoundly affects our philosophy, and the future
interstellar culture.

I believe astronomy will be the most important science in the
future and for a long time to come.

I believe, when we find how to navigate to distant star systems,
we should not do so randomly, but first search deeply among
them, not only with telescopes and sondes, but with prayer. I
believe our ancestors when they steered for the New World faced
the same dilemma, not being able to clearly guide their ships,
but trusting Divine Providence. I think we will be in the same
position. God, not wanting to waste our effort, would certainly
guide and assist and protect us on such a journey. But, perhaps,
not without the price of some sacrifices, as has been the case
every time we take a new step forward, for example, as in
aviation.

See how a God-centered world view can dovetail into our view of
technology and civilization?

So, where did this Unified Field Theory come from? Okay,
honestly, it is the very Divine Principle which the Unification
Movement is teaching. I think that many members also don"t
clearly realize what a revolutionary and powerful thing they have
in their hands. They, too, are in some kind of a daze, not daring
to probe deeply into what this Principle says, with the idea that
anything "extra" is somehow extraneous, or heretical. "All what
we need is what is written here."

Of course some people think like that, and some people are very
open minded. You can imagine what kind of a person I am.
Anyway, you can well imagine that those who could endure through
the most intense persecution must be quite stubborn, perhaps hard-
headed, and clinging to something that they have fought for. But,
of course, we must always be ready for that which is new,
younger, hopeful. Respect for elders is one thing; but elders
also should be careful not to be too calcified. My teacher can be
the flower, the breath of wind, the child, the one who is
persecuting me even. After all, many times those parents who
nagged that their children who became Moonies should be more
publicly responsible, for example, in such things as paying taxes
or maintaining a home and a job, were in a sense right, as we
ourselves are learning as we enter into the stable life now....

The Divine Principle was not made up but discovered by prayer and
agonizing search by Sun Myung Moon. It is not his version of
truth, but something somehow universal. It doesn't contradict the
religious teachings of others, but somehow they feel very
threatened. That is also understandable. One thing also, is that
it is quite intellectual, and probing, and that is not at all the
style of, say, the highly ritual-oriented Orthodox faith. But, we
have to respect them too, and learn from them, because they
really soothe the human soul, and bring something to their
believers. Look -- they worship icons, build mammoth gilt
temples, say prayers out of books inherited from the saints and
the apostles.... There is something to say for tradition, and old-
time religion. This, too, we, as Unificationists, have to realize
and honor and respect.

The Divine Principle says only one paragraph about "Universal
Prime Force". In fact, I heard that the author of the book, Rev.
Hyo Won Eu, had written three paragraphs on Universal Prime
Force, but Rev. Moon told him to just write that scant paragraph.
Why? I feel like he was loving me by saving it for me to
discover! Even in this way I can feel the love of those we call
"Our True Parents". Anyway, I found out a lot about Universal
Prime Force, some fragments of which I sent to you. Interesting.
That is the very answer the nuclear physicists have been seeking,
by spending billions of dollars for ever more powerful particle
accelerators, to find out about one infinitesimal particle, and
diverting the whole power of mighty dams in doing so. But we have
a large part of that answer, right there in our book, and in the
hands of those scrofulous Moonies who go around fundraising and
denying themselves. Yet it makes sense, ultimately. Some of those
people are paying the price, in tears and sweat and blood, for
the glorious future, and for the salvation of mankind, and for
the end of all war and hatred, by taking the cross upon
themselves, of the sins of mankind. That's what they are doing,
and have been doing for the last fifty years, while the world was
relaxing, and fighting, and descending into ruin. Wouldn't you
call that Great Love?
