Thus, despite the fact that God created man and the universe, He has never been able to dominate man according to His will because man chose a false master. Instead, Satan became the false master of this world. John 12:31 states that Satan is "the ruler of this world" and in II Cor. 4:4, he is called "the god of this world" for this very reason.
