The Cain-Abel Won-gu Peace cup Cosmic Harmony Tournament was initiated by True Parents on April 19, 2009, during the Rally to Bring About the Complete Settlement of Peace for the Cosmic Cain and Abel Centering on the Parents of Heaven and Earth.

True Parents, who are global citizens who love the world, revealed the significance of Won-gu Peace Cup as follows: "Until today, humankind has constantly endangered the very peace it avows to uphold. Through this festival of peace, however, people around the world will become more aware that we are all Cod's precious children, brothers and sisters, one family."

Won-gu [which means "round ball" in Korean] signifies that, up and down, left and right, front and back, are all adjacent to one another based on a 90-degree angle with the central axis. This also symbolizes the harmony of Cain and Abel.

Main Address
Dr. Hyung Jin Moon, Organizing Committee Chairman, International President, Unification Church>

Peace-loving leaders,
Humankind has always longed for peace in this world. Yet, never in our long history have we experienced global peace. Nowadays, people understand that we cannot create a peaceful world solely by means of political negotiations, or by military or economic cooperation. Humanity now stands at an important crossroads and should humbly place its reliance on God. The time has come for us to listen carefully to God's response.

God has already opened the path for our salvation and for the realization of a world of peace. He has sent the Savior, the Messiah, the Returning Lord, and the True Parents to the earth. The appearance of the True Parents is God's response and His blessing for humankind.

Since his birth and receiving his call from God, True Father's path has been a course of suffering through seven deaths and resurrections, and the completion of the eight stages. His life has been a victorious one, devoted in true live to God's unfolding providence. Now, True Parents together haven us the "Cain-Abel Won-gu Peace Cup Cosmic Harmony Tournament" Which will serve as an occasion for harmony and unity that heralds the era of peace.

Won-gu (which means round ball) indicates the spherical motion created when any subject partner and object partner in the creation have good give-and-receive action in any of the four directions of north, south, east, and west, to create a circle. When a circle is formed at multiple angles to a plane, it creates a sphere. From such spherical motion, harmony, and unity are created and peace can begin.

Distinguished guests, athletes and teams from around the world! The Won-gu Peace Cup Tournament is being held as we enter a new era based on the heavenly calendar, where Cain and Abel, East and West, and the Solar and Lunar calendars are brought into oneness. Through this tournament, I pray that we may all regain our original, God-given divine nature and become flag-bearers of peace. I pray that God and True Parents' blessings will be with your families, your nations and world forevermore. Thank you very much.

We send our applause of encouragement to the athletes from Korea, Japan, Asia, Americas, Europe and Africa who are performing to the best of their abilities despite the inclement weather. Aju!!!

(@lovintp in English) The "Wongu" in "Wongu Peace Cup" refers to a spherical movement in which subject and object partners throughout creation -- east, west, north and south -- engage in smooth give and receive action and revolve around each other in various angles. This allows humankind to return to the state of our original creation. This tournament will be a venue of harmony and unity that will lead us toward the ideal world of peace.
