The congregation of the Cheon Bok Gung watched the video message by Rev. Hyung Jin Moon, titled "The Secret of Immanuel."   This message contains important contents which are related to 원리본체론 (Original Substance of the Divine Principle) and help us understand who True Parents are in relation with God.  You can watch his full sermon in English at http://vimeo.com/43281219 and I would like to put important points together here as follows. - Katsumi Kambashi

Rev. Moon started his sermon with the following Biblical verses.

Matthew 1:20-23

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

1. Relationship comes first before each entity (Relational Ontology based on the Principle).

According to the Divine Principle, any entity can exist, operate and develop only when they have a reciprocal relationship with their subject or object partners. This means that without a relationship, they don't "exist."  Therefore, the "relationship" is the factor to define each "existence."

In terms of understanding the Trinity in Christianity, they have put importance on interpreting each entity, which are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and they ended up being  tangled with questions to nowhere such as "What is the Father?," "What is the Son?," or "What is the Holy Spirit?". But from "Relational Ontology (관계존재론)" based on the Principle, the "Trinity" becomes clear as seen in the Divine Principle, which is focused on the relationship in the Trinity.  We can see the same approach in defining God in the Divine Principle (Unificationism): it argues the relationship of the attributes of God, not the attributes themselves.

(Katsumi: Father called the Unificationism as "Relational Philosophy / 관계철학" during his speech at UTS when I was there).

2. The Special Relationship between God and True Father (Anthropology based on the Principle).

Father often says when we are in the spirit world, we will see God in the form of True Parents, and the messages from the spirit also stated that. How can we understand this?

Like all human beings, Father has the spirit self and the physical self, both of which consists of 'mind' and 'body' respectively: The spirit self has a spirit mind and spirit body, and the physical self has a physical mind and physical body.  When we see people on earth, we only see their physical self, not their spirit self.  By the same token, when we see people in the spirit world where we exist as a spirit self, we only see their spirit body, not their spirit mind.

We must remember here that God has no body of the spirit self, that is, the spirit body, which means God exists as spirit mind.  That's why we can't see God like we can't see people's spirit self on earth.

The spirit self's spirit mind and spirit body, which are its "mind" and "body", are inseparable.  Therefore, God, who is united with Father in the spirit mind, comes to use Father's spirit body, and consequently, when we see Father in the spirit world, it means we see God. That's why Jesus was called "Immanuel," which means "God with us."

(Katsumi: Father said the key for his oneness with God is "resonance / 공명 / 共鳴.")

3. Does God directly give us His message and revelation to each of us?  No, He doesn't.

But if so, strictly speaking we wouldn't need the Messiah or True Parents. When it is truly a message from God, we can and should receive it through True Parents as God's spirit body in a dream or any spiritual experiences since God chose Father and becomes united with him in spirit mind, as stated above.

(Katsumi: I remember Father once said that in most cases messages through dreams and spiritual experiences come from, not God, but one's ancestors who have direct interests with their descendants. He said angels come to be involved when the matter is on the national level, and God works on the worldwide level.  I am not sure if this is the case all the time.)
