너 희들, 어제 좋은 시간 가졌어요? 다운타운에 나가 봤어요? 그래서 뭘 했나요? 킹 카메하메하 호텔 옆에 ‘반야트리’라고 있어요. 거기서 너희들 사진 찍었지요? 그 나무는 열대지방 나무예요. 그런데 가지가 위로만 뻗어 가는 게 아니고 다시 밑으로 내려와서 땅에 뿌리를 내려요. 그래서 그 몸체가 커지는 나무예요. 너희들 잘 봤지요? 아주 신기한 나무인데, 열대지방에는 필수로 그런 나무들이 필요해요. 아버님께서도 다운타운에 가시게 되면 그 나무를 사랑하셨어요. 그 나무 그늘에서 잠시 쉬시면서, 그늘 아래 앉아 있으면 열대지방인데도 바람이 불게 되니까 선선해요. 시원해요. 그렇지요? 그래서 그 나무는 부모님과의 추억의 나무이기 때문에 너희들 나가서 보라고 그런 거예요.
Did you have a good time yesterday? Did you go downtown? What did you do? There is a banyan tree next to the King Kamehameha Hotel. Did you take a picture there? That is a tropical tree; the branches not only spread upward but also go down to the ground where they take root. That is how the tree grows in size. Did you see that tree? It really is mysterious. Those trees are absolutely needed in tropical regions. When True Father went downtown, he expressed great love to that tree. He would rest in its shade. Even though this is the tropics, if you sit in its shade and the wind blows, it is very cool and refreshing, isn’t it? True Parents have many memories involving that tree, which is why I encouraged you to go to see it.
그리고 또 하나 특이한 나무가 있는데, ‘몽키 파드’라고 해요. 호놀룰루에서 100년 이상 된 이 나무를 봤는데, 너희들이 이제 아일랜드 투어를 하면서 힐러에 갔었지요? 힐러에 가면 그 공원에 큰 나무들이 있었지요? 그 나무에서 사진 찍었나요? 그게 몽키 파드 트리예요. 하나님 창조의 오묘하고 신기하고 아름다운 그러한 느낌을 가졌나요? 참 장렬한 태양열 아래 그늘에서는 시원하잖아요. 그런데 그 나무는 그렇게 가지를 뻗어서 나무 그늘 아래 동물이나 사람들이 쉴 수 있는 안식처를 만들어 주잖아요. 그 나무도 부모님께서는 참 사랑하셨어요. 그래서 이쪽에 오게 되면 그 나무를 배경으로 사진도 찍고 그랬어요.
There is another peculiar tree called the Monkey Pod. In Honolulu, I saw one of these trees that was more than a hundred years old. I am sure you all went to Hilo while on the Island tour. If you went to Hilo, I’m sure you saw some big trees at that park. Did you take pictures of trees there? They were monkey pod trees. Did you feel a sense of profound mystery, amazement at the beauty of God’s creation? It is very cool in the shade even under the blazing heat of the sun. Yet, the tree’s branches are spread out in a way that creates a resting place for animals and people that come under its shade. True Parents loved that tree too. That’s why when we went to that place, we often took pictures in front of that tree.
그런 나무를 여러분이 이번 수련하는 기간에 내가 두 그루 샀어요. 커피 농장 가봤지요? 거기다가 심을 거예요. 오늘 구멍을 파고 그 나무 가져와 가지고 내가 정해 놓은 자리에 자리를 잡게 될 거예요. 너희들이 이제 성장해서 내 나이만 하게 되어 다시 한 번 하와이, 빅 아일랜드에 올 기회가 있으면 그 나무는 엄청나게 커 있을 거예요. 거대한 나무로 자라 있을 거예요. 한번 상상해 봐요. 그런 환경에서 아버님께서는 수천 명, 수백 명의 사람들을 모아서 말씀하시고 화동하시고 싶으셨던 나무들이에요. 그런 귀한 것을 너희들이 보고 듣고 알고 가는 거예요. 어때요? 자랑스럽지요?
During the workshop this time, I bought two of those trees. I am sure you went to the coffee farm. That is where I am going to plant them. Today we will dig a hole and when the trees arrive, they will be planted at the places I designate. Later, when you grow up, become my age, and return to the Big Island, Hawaii, those trees will have grown to great heights. They will have grown to become large trees. Try imagining this. True Father wanted to speak to and mingle with hundreds and thousands of people in an environment like one filled with those trees. These are the precious things that you should see, listen to and learn. Well? Aren’t you proud of all this?
너희는 대부분이 틴에이저(10대)이지요? 너희들 마음대로 하고 싶지요? 부모가 너무 간섭한다고 생각하는 사람들도 있었을 거예요. 그러나 너희들이 이번 2주간의 수련을 통해서 감사한 마음을 많이 느꼈을 거예요. 그런가요? 첫째, 너희들은 혼자가 아니에요. 너희들은 한 형제예요. 그렇지요?
Most of you are teenagers, aren’t you? I’m sure you want to do as you please. I’m sure there are some who think their parents interfere too much. I’m sure you found many things to be grateful for during this two-week workshop. Didn’t you? First of all, you are not alone. You are all brothers and sisters, aren’t you?
행 복이란 말은 혼자서는 행복하다고 말할 수 없어요. 하나님께서도 홀로 계시는 게 외로우셔서 천지창조를 시작하신 거예요. 너희들 연령에서는 자기가 하고 싶은 대로, 자기들 멋대로 하는 게 좋겠다고 생각하지만 그것은 너희들이 아직 덜 성장했다, 성숙하지 못했다는 거예요. 그렇기 때문에 너희들에게는 부모와 선생님과 너희보다 나이 많은 형님 누님이 필요한 거예요. 행복이란 말은 둘이 되면 더 행복하고, 셋이 되고 넷이 되면 더 행복해요. 행복은 커진다는 말이에요. 알겠어요? 너희들 개개인은 혼자였지만 이제 수련을 통해서 너희들은 한 형제가 됐어요. 너희들이 어디에 있든지 간에 서로 하나가 된 자리에서 잘 소통하는 자리에서 아름답게 성장해 주기를 바라요. 그래서 너희들의 꿈만이 아닌 하늘부모님, 참부모님의 꿈을 이뤄 드리는 자랑스러운 효손들이 되라! 축복의 말이지요? 그렇게 될 거예요?
Happiness is not something you experience alone. God was alone and lonely. That is why He created heaven and earth. At your age, you want to do and live as you please but that is because you still have to grow, to mature. That is why you need your parents, teachers and elder brothers and sisters, who are older than you. With two people, there is greater happiness. When this increases to three or four people, happiness increases proportionately. Happiness grows. Do you understand? Each of you may be alone as an individual, but through this workshop you have become brothers and sisters. Wherever you go, I hope you maintain this unity, and grow magnificently while communicating with each other. By doing so, you should become proud devoted children who can fulfill not only your own dreams but also the dream of the Heavenly Parent and True Parents! These are words of blessing. Will you become this type of child?
너희들은 자랑스러운 하늘의 자녀다! 너희들 앞에는 두려움이 있을 수 없다! 너희들 이상 아는 사람은 없어요. 하늘의 섭리를 아는 사람, 역사를 아는 사람, 잘났다는 사람, 너희들을 통해서 배워야 할 거예요. 너희들의 힘은 참부모예요. 알겠지요? 참부모님을 너희들이 많이 닮을수록 참사랑을 실천하는 효자, 효녀, 참주인이 될 수 있는 거예요. 그런 면에서 학교에서나 어디서나 최고로 너희들은 자리매김을 해야 돼요. 하늘의 긍지가 있는데, 안 그런가요? 최고가 되어야 한다! 『최고가 되어야 한다!』 최고가 될 거지요? 모든 면에서 너희들을 본받아서 세계의 모든 청소년들이, 어린이들이 너희들을 만나기를 고대하고 너희들로 말미암아….
You are all children that heaven can be proud of! There is nothing to fear! There is nobody that is more knowledgeable than you are. Those who know heaven’s providence, those who know history, those who are smart, must all learn from you now. Your strength lies in True Parents. Do you understand? The more you resemble True Parents, the more you can grow to become a devoted son or daughter and a true owner that practices true love. Thus, whether at school or any place else, you must always position yourself to be the best. You are heaven’s pride. Isn’t that right? You have to become the best. [We have to become the best!] Will you become the best? In all respects, you have to become an example so that the world’s children and youth will wait impatiently, hoping to meet you.
지금 세상은 외적으로 많이 힘들어지고 있어요. 세계적으로 일어나고 있는 이상기후로 인한 천재지변, 이것은 인간이 그렇게 만들었어요. 타락한 인간들이 그렇게 만들었어요. 이거 우리가 보고만 있을 수 없어요. 그렇지요? 이게 우리가 교육하고 이것을 정화하는 작업을 해야 될 거예요. 그러려면 너희들은 각 방면에 있어서 최고가 되어야만 한다! 알겠어요? 너희들이 인류 앞에 희망이다!
Many external difficulties are afflicting the world today. Natural disasters caused by abnormal climate change are occurring throughout the world. Human beings caused this. Fallen man created this. We cannot sit still and watch this. Isn’t that right? We have to educate people and work on purifying this. In order to do this, we must become the best in each field of activity! Do you understand? You are the hope of humanity!
백 년 전에 인도의 시성 타고르가 이렇게 말을 했어요. 한국을 찬양했어요. 그때의 한국은 일본의 식민지에 있을 때예요. 그때 타고르는 한국을 향해서 아시아의 등불이 켜지는 날에 한국은 동방의 빛이 된다고 말했어요. 등불은 뭔가요? 등불은 진리예요, 말씀! 참부모님의 말씀으로만이 세상을 구할 수 있는 거예요. 그렇기 때문에 너희들이 참부모님의 말씀을 많이 공부해야 될 거예요.
A hundred years ago, Tagore, the great poet from India, praised Korea. Korea was still under Japan’s colonial rule at that time. Tagore spoke of Korea, saying that Korea would become the light of the East when the lamp of Asia is lit. What is a lamp? The lamp refers to the truth and the word! The world can be saved only through True Parents’ teachings. That is why you have to diligently study True Parents’ teachings.
내가 시작할 때 너희들은 타락한 세계의 청소년들과 다른 퓨어 워터라고 그랬지요? 그것을 잘 지켜야 돼요. 그리고 너희들로 말미암아 이렇게 오염된 세상을 바꿀 수 있어야 돼요. 그러려니까 모든 면에서 공부도 열심히 하고 몸도 튼튼해야 돼요. 건강해야 돼요. 그렇지요? 그래서 부모님 말씀 잘 듣고, 학교에서 선생님 말씀 잘 듣고, 너희들이 최선을 다해서 큰 꿈을 이룰 수 있는 이번 하와이 수련은, 너희들로 말미암아 너희들이 잘 성장하면 조상의 자리에 오를 수 있다! 이거 위대한 말 아닌가요? 그렇게 될 것이지요? (01:11:02)
When we first began, didn’t I tell you that you were pure water, different from youths in the fallen world? You have to preserve your purity. You have to be able to transform this polluted world. To do that, you have to study hard in all fields and keep your body healthy and firm. Right? You should listen to your parents, listen to your teachers at school and do your best to fulfil your great dream. This workshop in Hawaii will enable you to do this, and to rise to the position of a progenitor as long as you healthily grow in this way. Doesn’t this sound great? Will you become that? (01:11:02)"
