Explanation

For 6,000 years God had been seeking the heavenly family and the restored foundation of His love on earth. The establishment of Parents Day signified that God had finally established His first son and daughter as the True Parents of humankind. Fallen humanity should rejoice because through the establishment of Parents Day it is finally possible for humanity to attend the True Parents.

Father is the first person in history ever able to proclaim Parents Day. Based on the victory of installing Parents Day, Father and Mother were able to build on earth the eternal family unit.

Imagine, if you will, the whole earth covered with water, water often being used as a symbol of fallen humankind. Thousands of years ago, one rock (representing the sacrifice of saints and righteous people) was laid in the ocean depths. Far down on the ocean floor, one rock was piled upon another, slowly and painfully building the providence of restoration. From the surface, nothing was apparent. In the course of 6,000 years, more rocks were gradually added to the pile. Finally, in 1960, the first glimpse of this massive labor of restoration emerged.

Parents Day, established March 1, 1960 (according to the lunar calendar), signifies the origin or source of life for all humankind and the root of our tradition in the sense that we receive life from our parents. People use the same language as their parents and follow their parents' cultural mores, as well as learn and inherit their tradition. The only way fallen people can be restored is through True Parents. We must return to God. In this sense, restoration is the hope of all humanity.

Through the restoration process, human beings can climb from the position of God's enemy, through the stages of servant of servant, servant, adopted son or daughter, and stepson or stepdaughter, to finally become true sons or daughters of God, receive God's grace, and eventually become true parents. True Father himself went through such a hard personal indemnity (tang gam) course. On this foundation, he could establish Parents Day.

  43 Couples' Blessing Essen, Germany

  The 43 Couples' Blessing was actually done in three parts, the first in the US at Upshur House, Washington DC, then in Europe (Essen) and finally in Japan.  This was the first blessing of non-Korean members, and was an international extension of the 430 Couples' Blessing.

  The American portion of the blessing was on February 28, 1969, with 13 American couples--including Edwin and Marie Ang, Wesley and Gladys Samuels, and George and Diane Fernsler.  Eight couples were blessed in Germany on March 28, 1969--Reiner and Barbara Vincenz, Teddy and Pauline Verheyen, the Martin Porters, Paul and Christal Werner, Peter and Gertrude Koch, the Johann Van der Stoks, the Kunkels, and Dennis and Doris Orme.  Twenty-two Japanese couples were blessed on May 1, 1969, in Japan.  Ken Sudo's and Takeru Kamiyama's couples were part of that blessing.  Later Michael Runyon officially joined the ranks of the 43 couples, actually the Japanese portion, when he was reblessed to Chizuko whose Japanese 43 couple husband had left the church.

  At the time of the blessing, the American couples considered the match up of the number with the number of the American founding colonies.

  Proclamation of the Day of Substantial Resurrection (1961)

  In the history of our church there are two important ceremonies which may not be so well known to Western members. One is the Resurrection of Shimjung and the other is the Resurrection of Substance.

  It is not necessary to hold a commemorative service on April 17. It is important, however, to understand the internal significance of these days for our lives of faith. Just after Parents Day was established in 1960, True Parents proclaimed the Resurrection of Shimjung on April 17. This is an extremely significant day for us. It was the day on which all Unification Church members who had accepted True Parents inherited the potential to be restored as sons and daughters of the True Parents on the shimjung level. "If you believe in me," Father told us that day, "spiritually you become my sons and daughters on the shimjung level."

  Although members may not be aware of it at the time, they generally pass through the stage of Resurrection of Shimjung before the Blessing. All of us must begin life again through True Parents who are the source of our life. We have been living a false life; therefore, before we enter True Parents' womb, we must relate to them with absolute love, not through a ceremony or external ritual.

  How is it possible to become a child of the True Parents? The first stage of developing our relationship with True Parents is to align our hearts with theirs. A foundation for True Parents on the earth has already been established; therefore, all people have the hope of participating in resurrection. Since the Day of the Resurrection of Shimjung, if a member does his or her absolute best, loving and completely uniting with the True Parents in heart, he or she can build a relationship of love with them, as their child.

  All Unification Church members benefit from the proclamation of the Day of the Resurrection of Shimjung whether or not they recognize it. After the matching and engagement, we substantially enter the position of adopted child and are (symbolically) in the womb of True Mother. People pass through the stage of Resurrection of Substance as they naturally become closer to True Parents in heart.

  After the Resurrection of Shimjung, True Mother became pregnant with Ye Jin Nim. Through the grace of the True Children each of us can in heart enter True Mother's womb, i.e., the Resurrection of Substance. Under this condition, we can resurrect substantially through the change of blood lineage at our Blessing ceremony. Our personal resurrection is completed through the Blessing on the foundation of the True Parents' substantial resurrection proclamation.

  On April 17, 1961, Father proclaimed the Day of Resurrection of Substance. "If you obey Principle," he promised us that day, "you become my true Cain-type sons and daughters." This means True Parents become our true olive tree and we can engraft ourselves to them.

  The 36 Couple Blessing was held on May 15, 1961, directly following the proclamation of the Day of Resurrection of Substance.

  Day of All True Things (1963)

  God created all things for the human environment even before He created man and woman. Yet after the fall, humans had to be restored before all things. Therefore, until the establishment of both Parents Day and Children's Day, Heavenly Father's restoration process could not include the environment. However, on the victorious foundation of True Parents' establishment of Parents Day and Children's Day, they were able to begin restoration of the environment and established The Day of All Things on May 1, 1963 (lunar calendar).

  Romans 8:19-23 explains:

  For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God; for the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will but by the will of him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the glorious liberty of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning in travail together until now; and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait for the adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

  The desire of all things is to see the day when we can receive the true love of God through human beings. All things of the creation are looking forward to the fulfillment of the three basic loves: the love of God, the parental love from true parents, and the love of the children who receive this perfect love of God and parents. Because of this day, the entire cosmos has become harmonized: God, humanity, and all things. All things can find their real owner and all humankind can give glory to God because we have the freedom to embrace and love all things. Following our Father's example we should fulfill our position as God's representatives and children and truly love all things.

Day of the Love of God (1984)

The Day of the Love of God was proclaimed on May 16, 1984, at 12:54 am. In Father's prayer on Sunday, May 20, 1984 (the official announcement of this day to the membership), True Father expressed the significance of this day:

Through the unity on the family level expressed then (May 16) at East Garden, today can be connected with that day of historical declaration.

Because of the unity between True Parents on earth and Heavenly Father, Heung Jin, and Jesus in the spirit world, all 120 nations in the spirit world and all 120 nations on earth now have the right to resurrection.

Due to satanic love, we lost the sovereignty of God. But now, at this historical peak of tang gam, centering on the love of True Parents and the love of God, we restore this lost historical heritage and are able to declare the Day of the Love of God.

I proclaim that we stand united in the shimjung territory, with one mind and one ideal.

May God, True Parents, True Children and all Blessed Families be united centered on the sovereignty of God's love. Let us form one heritage and march forward together.

The 124 Couples' Blessing Ceremony took place at Seoul Citizens' Hall. After the ceremony, all the couples paraded through Seoul with 150 taxis.

"The 124 Couples' Blessing represents 120 Abel nations (120 United Nations assembly) and 4 represents satanic nations that were not part of the UN. Because of these four Father has received so much persecution."

In the afternoon of June 13, 2006, the True Parents were crowned as King and Queen of Cosmic Peace at Cheon Jeong Gung 천정궁 The Heavenly Original Palace.

According to True Mother's direction, we observe the June 13, 2006 grand Entrance of True Parents into the Cheon Jeong Gung and Coronation of our True Parents as King and Queen of Cosmic Peace according to the lunar calendar on 6.13 lunar, which corresponds this year, 2015, to July 28th.

On this day, July 30th, in 1996, the Inauguration of the Family Federation for Unification and World Peace took place at the National Buildings Museum in Washington, DC. Here's the August 1996 Unification News report of this occasion, written by Farley Jones:

The providence of God through True Parents continues to advance giant stride by giant stride. On the foundation of the previous establishment of the Women's Federation for World Peace and the Youth Federation for World Peace, the Inaugural World Convention of the Family Federation for World Peace (FFWP) was held in Washington, DC this past July 30 through August 1.

As many Unification News readers know, True Parents had previously established the Family Federation for Unification and World Peace (FFUWP). The FFUWP is at the moment a distinct organization from the FFWP, the FFWP being intended to be, among other things, a forum for world leaders and scholars to address issues related to the family.

The Inaugural Convention of the FFWP had many highlights. Included in the guest speakers were former presidents George Bush and Gerald Ford, Nobel laureate and former President Arias of Costa Rica, former Prime Minister Sir Edward Heath of Great Britain and former congressman and currently a leading figure in the Republican party, Jack Kemp. Also Coretta Scott King, wife of the late Martin Luther King addressed one of the plenary sessions. On the lighter side, Bill Cosby offered in the opening plenary session some warm and amusing reflections on the role of grandparents in a family.

Beyond the plenary sessions, the conference was organized according to a variety of family-related topics, addressing aspects of our contemporary culture which interface with the family. Thus, there were areas of the Convention dealing with family and government, family and education, family and the media, and, perhaps permeating a number of these different areas, family and religion.

While the Convention was very broad in its scope, a very specific focus was expressed in the plenary addresses of both Mother and Father. Mother's address, printed elsewhere in Unification News and entitled "View of the Principle of the Providential History of Salvation" introduced a historical and biblical view of the family to the participants.

While Mother spoke from a pre-printed text, Father's talk, given at the conclusion of the closing banquet, was unscripted and spontaneous. Father spoke on themes familiar to all Unificationists, including man- woman relationships, the sanctity of the sexual organs and true love. While the themes were familiar, Father's energy and commitment are ever fresh and renewing. A number of delegates the next morning commented on the very unusual, powerful spirit displayed by this 76 year old man.

The Convention also saw the establishment of an initial Steering Committee for the FFWP. This Committee consists of representatives of 16 nations drawn from every continent. Reverend Chung Hwan Kwak was appointed as the first international President of the FFWP. Among the many missions he has held over the years, Reverend Kwak reportedly regards this mission as the highest one he has ever been given.

Complementing the intellectual content of the Convention was a wonderful performance at the closing banquet by the Pat Boone family, including Pat Boone, his daughter Debbie and Debbie's youngest daughter, approximately 14. Pat Boone is an entertainer well known throughout the world both for his artistic skill and his Christian faith. He sang some of his best known hits and, saying at one point that it was "time for Mr. Boone to meet Reverend Moon", he descended from the stage to include Mother and Father in his rendition of "April Love". Father, of course, in his own unique way, immediately joined in singing with Mr. Boone.

Given Father's emphasis on the family, it is highly significant that he feels that the time finally has come to establish formally the Family Federation for World Peace. With this historic step taken, we may anticipate continuing great developments in the ongoing providence of God.

Sun Jin nim's Birthday (1976)

Sun JIn Nim, whose name means "March of Goodness," True Parents' tenth child and fifth daughter, was born on this lunar date, 6.15 lunar, in 1976 (July 11, 1976 solar). Since her inauguration on March 15, 2015, Sun Jin Nim has been serving as the International President of the Family Federation for the World Peace and Unification.

The International President of FFWPU, Sun Jin Moon Celebrates her birthday with True Mother

On July 30 at 7AM, True Mother and about 60 Korean leaders gathered in Cheon Jeong Gung to celebrate the International President Sun Jin Nim’s 40th birthday.

Sun Jin Nim thanked everyone and sang two beautiful songs: “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and “Part of Your World.” For the final, True Mother led everyone in singing the Korean love song “Saranghe.”
